Welcome to 2019 and our upcoming movies

Updated: Feb 26, 2019

Greetings Proscenia Film Society movie goers!

We started Proscenia Film Society in 2018 and partnered with the Mayflower Arts Center to help bring movies to Troy.

In 2018, we sponsored 28 diverse movies including such community favorites as Hocus Pocus, Won’t You Be My Neighbor?, The Room, The Florida Project, Vertigo, and our Sunday Matinee Creature Feature Series.

We were happy to help entertain you in 2018 and we are excited to continue entertaining you in 2019.

To help with your scheduling, we have set our movies to be the first and third Saturdays and third Sunday of each month (with some minor changes due to scheduling conflicts.)

Season 1 of the Sunday Matinee Creature Feature Series is over (it’ll be back!) and we start a new Sunday Matinee Series in 2019. The new Sunday Matinee Series is Sunday Matinee Foreign Film Series and we kick it off with a screening of Pan’s Labyrinth on Sunday, April 20.

Can’t wait until April for a PFS experience? Don’t fret! We have some Saturday movies scheduled for you before then.

Saturday, February 2 - Groundhog Day (1993)

Groundhog Day - the holiday classic has Bill Murray reliving Groundhog Day over and over and over and over until he gets it right. Director: Harold Ramis. Starring: Bill Murray, Andie MacDowell, Chris Elliott.

Saturday, March 2 - Thoroughbreds (2017)

Childhood friends Lily and Amanda reconnect in suburban Connecticut after years of growing apart. Lily has turned into a polished, upper-class teenager, with a fancy boarding school on her transcript and a coveted internship on her resume; Amanda has developed a sharp wit and her own particular attitude, but all in the process of becoming a social outcast. Though they initially seem completely at odds, the pair bond over Lily's contempt for her oppressive stepfather, Mark, and as their friendship grows, they begin to bring out one another's most destructive tendencies. Their ambitions lead them to hire a local hustler, Tim, and take matters into their own hands to set their lives straight.Director: Cory Finley. Starring: Olivia Cooke, Anya Taylor-Joy, Anton Yelchin

Saturday, April 6 - Eighth Grade (2018)

Eighth Grade is an award-winning, touching and honest portrayal of growing up in today’s social media-driven culture. If you have children around this age, this movie may give you some insight into what they are experiencing. Director: Bo Burnham. Starring: Elsie Fisher, Josh Hamilton.

Saturday, April 20 - Disney’s Beauty and the Beast (1991 animated version)

The classic tale of true love with a memorable soundtrack. Director: Gary Trousdale, Kirk Wise. Starring: Paige O’Hara, Robby Benson

Sunday, April 14 - Pan’s Labyrinth (2006) In the Falangist Spain of 1944, the bookish young stepdaughter of a sadistic army officer escapes into an eerie but captivating fantasy world. Director: Guillermo del Toro. Starring: Ivana Baquero, Ariadna Gil, Sergi López

We are still solidifying the rest of the movies for 2019, but rest assured, you will enjoy many movie experiences with PFS and the Mayflower Arts Center.
